We Extend an Enthusiastic Welcome to Our New Director!

Jennifer Harrison, Director and FamilyIt is with great excitement and anticipation that I have begun to plan for my work at Overfield, a beautiful school that I have already found to be exceptionally welcoming and dynamic. My husband and I believe that the lovely town of Troy, with its focus on family and community, will be an ideal place to raise our young daughter as I take this exciting new step in my career. I am proud and honored to be joining these two communities that I know share many common goals and values. I look forward to forming many robust and meaningful connections with not only the teachers, students, and families at Overfield, but also with our new neighbors in Troy.

Jennifer Harrison

The following announcement was e-mailed to Overfield's parents on April 20, 2011. It is our pleasure to share it with current and new parents. One additional note — since the writing of this letter, Jennifer's husband has been hired by Miami Valley Hospital — wonderful news for their family!

Dear Overfield Parents,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, it is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Jennifer Harrison as the new Director of the Overfield Early Childhood Program as of July 1, 2011. The Board has given its unanimous support to Mrs. Harrison's selection following the enthusiastic recommendation of the search committee.

Jennifer is a Cum Laude graduate of Vanderbilt University where she received her bachelor and graduate degrees. She is completing her tenth year as a professional educator. Currently a first grade teacher at the prestigious Francis Parker independent school in Chicago, Jennifer is an exemplary master teacher who has been preparing for an administrative position and is ready and excited to shift her professional focus from the classroom to director. She has a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills and relevant insights regarding the needs of young learners, their families, and their teachers. She will provide visionary, responsive, and collaborative leadership that will inspire positive actions and dynamic growth among all school constituents.

We are also pleased to welcome Jennifer's spouse Tom, and their 22-month-old daughter, to the Overfield community. Tom is an emergency room nurse in Chicago and will be looking for employment in the area. Together, they are a delightful and talented couple who have fallen in love with Troy and the school.

Our Interim Director, Lorna Dawes, has spent time with Jennifer and is very excited about her arrival. Lorna's heart is with the Overfield students, staff and parents, and we are extremely fortunate that she will be instrumental in Jennifer's orientation. We look forward to a smooth transition as Lorna works with Jennifer to help prepare her for launching the management of Overfield's next 50 years of exemplary early childhood education.

This appointment concludes a national search with the highly regarded independent school consultants Carney Sandoe and Associates. The search team included faculty, parents and trustees. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we would like to thank those who worked so diligently in helping us successfully complete what is the most important charge to the board, the selection of the school's next director. Please join us in welcoming Jennifer and Tom to the Overfield Early Childhood Program

Sincerely,

Jill A. Wilson, Chair
